The positive ratings are an essential basis for the favourable refinancing rates obtained by portfoliomanagement in the capital market. Again Moody’s awarded an issuer rating of Aa1 on 14 December 2018, which corresponds to the second-highest creditworthiness level. On 2 November 2018, Fitch awarded the top rating of AAA.

In this connection, the institution benefits from the very good ratings of the two sponsoring states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, who act as guarantors for the refinancing funds raised. Fitch, for instance, has awarded the AAA rating to Schleswig-Holstein on account of its sound financial position for many years.

The ratings of the two renowned agencies are necessary for developing the broadest possible international investor basis for refinancing. portfoliomanagement refinances its projects according to the acquired ship loans largely in US dollars. The good ratings and the resulting refinancing opportunities support the states’ objective of reducing the Hamburg Commercial Bank’s (formerly HSH Nordbank AG’s) bad debts in a value-preserving manner.
